Design & User-centred innovation
One of the best-established results in innovation studies has been that successful innovations depend on innovators who have a good understanding of, and relationship with, their prospective customers. But in recent years there has been increasing awareness that users can be important resources for the innovator, contributing ideas about useful products and designs, and even playing an active role in the innovation process alongside conventional R&D. At the same time we are hearing ideas about “open innovation” and “open source software”, and user-developed innovation in Web2.0. These, and related, issues are explored further under this theme.
